General information  

The websites www.denhaagdoet.nl (and the associated websites www.haagsestage.nl and www.volunteerthehague.nl) are points of support for volunteer and social organisations, students and (potential) volunteers and caregivers. The website www.volunteerthehague.nl is the English version of www.denhaagdoet and the website www.haagsestage.nl is specifically intended for social internships for students.

The following people/organisations can register on this website:

  • organisations who (want to) work with volunteers and/or students;  
  • people who want to look into volunteer work and/or wish to apply as a volunteer or who already do volunteer work in The Hague;  
  • students looking to do a social internship  
  • volunteers and caregivers who need to apply for a discount card.   

Organisations can register and then post volunteer work openings and courses/trainings and can then use the website to come into contact with (potential) volunteers.    

(Potential) volunteers can register and then apply to openings and courses/trainings offered on the website.  

After registering, students can apply to social internships but cannot apply for a discount card or apply for courses/trainings. To do so, the student account must be changed to a (potential) volunteer account.  

After registering, active volunteers and caregivers can apply for a discount card.  

Please refer to the websites themselves for further information on the websites and the options offered by the websites.  

Terms and conditions have been drawn up for the use of these websites to prevent misuse and to ensure that these websites remain a safe and community-minded space for all visitors. A separate set of General Terms and Conditions of Use was compiled for organisations and volunteers. The General Terms and Conditions of Use for volunteers are listed below.

1.      Definitions
General Terms and Conditions of Use: these General Terms and Conditions of Use for volunteers, students and caregivers.  

Us (us/we): PEP Den Haag.  

You (you/your): (potential) volunteers, students and caregivers.  

Volunteer points: the XL Service Points of Xtra and Welzijn Scheveningen in The Hague. These are physical locations where (potential) volunteers can go for advice and mediation and where organisations can go for support in posting their work openings. Every location has its own work area on the basis of postcodes. The Volunteer Points are staffed by intermediaries.

2.      General Terms and Conditions of Use - Applicability   
These General Terms and Conditions of Use apply to your use of the website. You must accept these General Terms and Conditions of Use before registering and using the website. Accept the General Terms and Conditions of Use by clicking on the 'I accept the General Terms and Conditions' button in the registration process.  

Other conditions do not apply and will be expressly rejected.   If one or more of the terms in these General Terms and Conditions of Use are null and void or must be annulled, the other terms in these General Terms and Conditions of Use will still apply in full.  

We may change the General Terms and Conditions of Use at any time. You will be informed of any changes in advance through the website.   

3.      Websites of third parties   
You can use the website to access third-party websites. We will not accept any liability whatsoever for the use, content, privacy policy or applications of third-party websites. We are also not liable for any damages, claims and/or other liabilities that may result from or are related to your use of third-party websites.   

4.      Registration for volunteers to apply to work openings   
(Potential) volunteers may register on the website for free. You can register with the registration process entitled 'register as a citizen'. After registering, you will receive a confirmation e-mail containing your log-in information. Your registration will be checked to see whether it meets all set conditions (see Article 5).   When registering, you will create your own profile, containing the following information:

  • your preference for volunteer work or a social internship: number of hours, type of organisation, type of volunteer work/social internship, sector etc.;
  • whether you wish to be included in the candidate database (only applies to volunteers);
  • whether you wish to receive our newsletter;
  • whether you wish to make use of our e-mail service. That means: automatic e-mails with the latest work openings/social internships, keeping you up to date on recent posts;
  • whether or not you wish to receive our magazine at home or online;
  • and you can apply for a discount card.

5.      Registration for caregivers and active volunteers to apply for a discount card
Caregivers can register on the website to apply for a discount card. The following details are required to do so: name, address, postcode, city/town, telephone number, e-mail address, agreement to or refusal of digital newsletter subscription, agreement to or refusal of the magazine PEP voor iedereen, the name of the person of which you are the caregiver (selection menu)   With these details, we can mail you the discount card and keep you updated on special offers in the (digital) magazine PEP voor iedereen.  

Active volunteers can register on the website to apply for a discount card. The following details are required to do so: name, address, postcode, city/town, telephone number, e-mail address, agreement to or refusal of digital newsletter subscription, agreement to or refusal of the magazine PEP voor iedereen, and the name of a person of which you are the caregiver. You must also enter for which organisation you work as a volunteer.  

(Candidate) volunteers can use the log-in account to apply for a disount card. You must also enter for which organisation you work as a volunteer.

6.      Registration for students to apply to social internships  
Students can apply on the website Haagsestage.nl. The following details are required to do so: name, address, postcode, city/town, telephone number, e-mail address, agreement to or refusal of digital newsletter subscription, level of education, and school (selection menu).  

7.      Data  
To register, you must enter the following data:

  • Personal details: name, address, city/town, gender, date of birth, telephone, e-mail address.
  • Preferences and skills: volunteer work/social internship/traineeship, city district, type of volunteer work, target group, availability (time period), level of education, skills.

For registration as a (potential) volunteer, these details are to be provided for the following purposes:

  • to match you with volunteer work openings; 
  • to compile reports on the website;  
  • so that intermediaries can match you with work openings in the event that in your registration, you agreed to being included in the candidate database;  
  • so that organisations can contact you for any work openings in the event that in your registration, you agreed to being included in the candidate database;
  • to send you newsletters in the event that you subscribed to our newsletter;    
  • to offer you e-mail services/job alerts, in the event that you subscribed to this service;  
  • to apply for the discount card in the event that you have found volunteer work.   

For registration as a student, these details are to be provided for the following purposes:

  • to match you with social internships; 
  • to compile reports on the website;
  • so that organisations can contact you for any social internships;  
  • to send you newsletters in the event that you subscribed to our newsletter;   

For registration as a caregiver and active volunteer, these details are to be provided for the following purposes:

  • to send you the discount card;  
  • to send you information on special offers through our (digital) magazine PEP voor iedereen.   

By entering your data, you agree to us processing your data. Your data will be processed following privacy law. We process your data as outlined in our privacy statement. Our privacy statement can be found on the website.  

We assume that the data you have entered is accurate and complete. You are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of your data.  

You are responsible for keeping your data up to date. You can change your data on the website yourself. You can do so by logging in on the website and changing your data in your own account.  
Your registration must meet the following conditions: If you do not meet these conditions, we reserve the right to take you off the website and block your access to it, so that you can no longer make use of the website.  

Conditions  

You are only allowed to enter data on the website in the event that you are the owner of that data or if you own the rights to that data.

You may not enter any data that infringes on the rights of third parties, intellectual property rights of third parties in particular.  

You may not enter data containing software viruses and/or data that could in any way damage the computers of users or negatively influence the functioning of their servers.  

You may not post any spam on the website. We define spam as unwanted advertising and unwanted promotional material.  

On your profile, you may only use an image of yourself as your profile picture. Only your face may be visible on the photo.  

You may not post any socially undesirable texts/images.  

You may not post any sexually oriented texts/images.  

You may not post any texts/images that shed a negative light on people and/or companies and/or may insult, humiliate, or discriminate against people and/or companies and/or contain hateful content.  

You may not post any texts/images of wounded people and/or people you may expect would not want to be depicted in their current situation.  

You may not post any texts/images that infringe on the privacy rights or legal rights of third parties.  
Copied images and photography are not permitted.  

8.      Applying for work openings/social internships  
After registering as a (potential) volunteer/student, you may apply to work openings/social internships as outlined in section '4'. After applying to a work opening/social internship, you will receive a confirmation e-mail. The organisation offering the work opening/social internship will be notified of your application, after which they will contact you. In the event that the organisation does not respond to your application for their work opening/social internship, you can contact the organisation yourself or report it to us. One of our employees will then contact the organisation in question. We are not responsible for receiving a response from the organisation in question.  

Conditions for applying:

  • You must enclose a letter of motivation with your application.  
  • It is not permitted to include texts that are sexually oriented or socially undesirable in your application.  
  • You may not shed a negative light on, insult or humiliate people or companies in your application. 
  • You may not discriminate against others in your application.  
  • Your application may not contain any hateful content. 
  • You may not send out more than 10 applications at once.   

If you do not keep to the aforementioned conditions, we reserve the right to block your account.  

9.      Candidate database (only for (potential) volunteers)  
In your registration as a (potential) volunteer, you can also indicate on the website that you wish to be included in the candidate database. That means that you would be visible to registered organisations and employable through intermediaries. If an organisation is looking for a volunteer, it can use the system to respond to your profile. In that event, you too will have to send a reaction to the organisation in question.      

10.   Use  
Use of the website is on your own account and at your own risk.  

No rights may be derived from the information offered on or through the website. It may occur that the information offered on or through the website is incorrect or incomplete.  

We offer no guarantees and will not accept any liability whatsoever for the quality and accuracy of the content on the website. The content on the website in no way represents our opinions.  

You acknowledge that the quality and availability of the website can be influenced by factors that lie beyond our power.  

We will work to offer continuous use of the website. However, we cannot guarantee that the website will function without interruption. We also offer no guarantees whatsoever and will accept no liability for the availability of the website or any disturbances in communication systems that may cause the website to be unavailable.  

We offer no guarantees and accept no liability whatsoever for the quality of the website, uninterrupted functioning of the website, errors or faults in the website and/or inaccurate information offered on or through the website.  

You are responsible for keeping your account password confidential and for denying others access to the website through your account.  

You are required to keep the information you obtain through use of the website confidential. Personal information on other volunteers, students, caregivers, organisations and/or other parties involved, obtained by or through the use of the website and which you know or may be expected to know is not publicly available, may not be passed on to or discussed with third parties. This confidentiality requirement will remain for the duration of your use of the website. In the event that you violate and/or do not meet this condition, you will be taken off the website and must compensate any damages resulting from your violation of and/or failure to meet the conditions.  

You are responsible for any losses or damages resulting from unauthorised use of your account and/or use of the website (including use of the website by third parties by means of access through your account). We are in no way responsible for this and will not accept any liability whatsoever.  

The website may only be used for private purposes. Posting commercial or semi-commercial advertisements on the website is not permitted.        

11.   Managing and maintaining the website  
We reserve the right to change the website. We may temporarily withdraw (certain parts of) the website without prior announcement for maintenance and/or resolving malfunctions.  

The version of the website may be updated from time to time for support purposes and/or for adding new functions and services.  

We pay the utmost care and attention to securing the website against loss of data, irregularities and improper use by third parties. We will keep the website as free of viruses and spam as possible. However, we offer no guarantees whatsoever and will not accept any sort of liability in this regard. This also applies to phishing e-mails.  

12.   Right to remove account/content or block use of the website  
At all times, we reserve the right to temporarily or permanently discontinue or remove your account, remove and/or refuse content and immediately block use of the website without providing a reason in the event that:

  • we have ascertained behaviour in breach of these General Terms and Conditions of Use; 
  • we have ascertained behaviour in breach of the purposes of the website;  
  • the website is misused in any other manner;  
  • we are of the opinion that your actions might result in damages or liability of yourself, third parties or the city of The Hague; 
  • we see any other cause to do so.

To register, you must enter the following data:

  • Contact at the organisation.
  • Organisation details: name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, objective, core activities, target group.
  • Type of organisation: work area, sector, number of employees and number of volunteers.
  • Additional properties that may be relevant for candidate volunteers (such as a good volunteer work policy).

These details are to be provided for the following purposes:

  • to evaluate whether your organisation meets the criteria for using the website; 
  • providing your organisation details to (potential) volunteers and/or students looking to apply to openings; 
  • drawing up reports on website results;  
  • sending out newsletters (only in the event that you have subscribed);  
  • matching (potential) volunteers and/or students to your openings and internships;
  • making your details available to intermediaries that actively match people and organisations, so that they may contact you.

5.      Posting work openings and internships  
After registering as outlined under section '4', you may post work openings and/or internships on the website. This will take place in the following manner: log in, after which you can post work openings and/or internships in your own menu.  

You carry all responsibility for the content of each posted work opening/internship. We check the text in the work openings/internships before posting them on the website based on the conditions listed below. If the work opening/internship (text) does not meet these conditions, it will be rejected and put offline so it is no longer visible on the website.  

6.      Conditions for approved work openings  
Before approving work openings, we apply the following conditions:

1.      Before posting the work opening and/or internship, you must first click to agree to the following statement: 'This volunteer position does not serve as a replacement for a paid employee.'
2.      The work opening/internship may not contain any curse words or threats. Illegitimate, aggressive, threatening, slanderous, vulgar, damaging, obscene, racist, or otherwise undesirable language is not permitted.
3.      Irrelevant texts will not be posted.
4.      Work opening/internship descriptions in a language other than Dutch (for denhaagdoet.nl and haagsestage.nl) and English (for volunteerthehague.nl) may be rejected.
5.      Your identity must be unambiguous at all times. In the event of any confusion, we reserve the right to refuse to post or remove the work opening/internship.
6.      In principle, including websites (URLs) in your work opening/internship is allowed. However, if you include links to websites that cross legal boundaries and/or the boundaries of decency and/or which are not relevant to the work opening, your work opening/internship may be refused.
7.      Very lengthy work opening/internship texts may be cut or not published.
8.      We reserve the right to refuse work openings/internships without providing a reason.
9.      We reserve the right to remove your work opening/internship in the event that we receive a report of it being illegal, causing problems or of it otherwise breaching laws and/or our rules and policy.  

7.      Changing work opening texts  
You can change the text in your own work openings/internships by logging into your account. We will monitor these changes as well. If we ascertain that the text of your work opening/internship has changed and does not meet or no longer meets the aforementioned conditions, the work opening will be taken offline and no longer be visible on the website.  

8.      Managing your work openings  
You are responsible for managing your own work openings and/or internships. You can do so by logging in and then accessing the organisation menu. Go to the overview of work openings to see which openings and/or internships have been published (that is: visible on the website) and which openings and/or internships have not been published (and are therefore not visible on the website). You can change the status of work openings and/or internships yourself, and move them from not published to published, for example.  

In addition to your own management, we and the intermediaries can both monitor the progress in the work openings/internships. In the event that no one has applied to your opening in 3 weeks, the intermediary will take action for you.

9.      Applying to jobs/work openings  
(Potential) volunteers/students can apply to work openings/internships on the website. A (potential) volunteer/student can contact you for further information by means of your contact information shown with the work opening/internship. If a (potential) volunteer/student applies to a work opening/internship online, you will receive an e-mail notification with the request to contact the (potential) volunteer/student in question. The (potential) volunteer/student will then receive a confirmation of his/her application, shown in their own menu. We kindly request that you reply to applications within 2 working days.  

Applications can be seen in your own menu (after logging in) under 'My work openings'. There, you'll see the applications listed for each work opening.  

It is your responsibility to deal with these applications correctly. You are also required to inform rejected candidates yourself (by means of for example an e-mail). We are not responsible for (potential) volunteers/students that apply to work openings/internships.  

10.   Replying to volunteers  
After registering, you will be granted access to the candidate database. This candidate database contains information of (potential) volunteers. If you wish to contact a (potential) volunteer, you can send him or her an e-mail. The (potential) volunteer in question will then receive an e-mail with your contact information, after which they can contact you. We are not responsible for (potential) volunteers' responses to your contact request.  

For more information on the volunteer candidates than is shown in the candidate database, we recommend contacting one of the Volunteer Points. They will be able to help you.  

11.   Use
