About Stichting Eekta
Eekta is a municipal organization that, since its inception, has actively contributed to the participation, social emancipation, and integration of the Surinamese community in The Hague's multicultural society. The foundation achieves this by holding consultation hours, conducting socio-cultural activities, organizing courses such as administrative support, information afternoons, exercise, walking, yoga, singing, dance, and music, and digital skills training.
Now, it fulfills this role by more explicitly seeking out encounters and dialogues, building connections between citizens. Given its experience working with the Surinamese target group, it has built specific knowledge, a network, and a high profile in the Netherlands. This has contributed to Eekta's increasingly distinctive character as a Social and Cultural Dialogue Center.
Eekta is visited by residents of The Hague from diverse backgrounds, as well as by non-profit and volunteer organizations. These organizations, in turn, are inspired to collaborate with Eekta to develop and implement activities focused on social tasks and the specific approach to Surinamese seniors.
Partly because of its recognizability and specific positioning, Eekta is often approached for collaboration by the municipal welfare/healthcare department, various social institutions, and other (neighborhood) organizations with requests for advice and to participate in organizations or working groups.
Eekta is located at Boylestraat 20, 2563 EK The Hague, in the Segbroek district. It operates its activities there, where its office is also located.
