Summary

Soul Surfers Club is a club for family caregivers (14-27 years), which facilitates surf therapy sessions to support vitality & sustainability.

Detailed description

Ride with Care

Soul Surfers Foundation is a non-profit organisation that has been working to improve the quality of life of participants since 2008. It uses surfing as a tool to motivate people to learn skills that make them more resilient, stay in work or overcome trauma.

To give the upcoming surfing project, called Soul Surfers Club, the fragile ‘stoke’ and personal touch, we are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to guide our participants in their process towards growth.

Your role as a Soul Surfers Club (SSC) volunteer

As an SSC volunteer, you will work with a surf therapist / surf life coach in conducting (surf)fit sessions. Your role is to ensure that young family caretakers (14 - 27 years old) from The Hague are motivated and inspired to actively participate in surfing and mindfulness activities. You do this by participating in the sessions yourself and sharing ideas for improving the programme with the team. In this way, you contribute to creating the sustainable employability of the young family caretaker.

Are you the person who…

  • …get energy from guiding participants during surf life coaching session at the beach or in the water
  • can motivate individuals during sporting activities?
  • Can collaborate with other team members to create a positive and stimulating growth environment?

...Then we are looking for you!

NB: The dates and times of the Soul Surfers Club Sessions will follow.

Your skills and interests are:

  • Interest in learning how to facilitate a surf(fit) programme.
  • Affinity or personal experience with family care or a desire to learn more about this.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to motivate people.
  • Affinity with coaching, guiding (sports) activities.
  • Surfing as a positive life-style sport.
  • The courage to allow yourself to be vulnerable or the will to want to learn this.

Soul Surfers Foundation offers:

  • A volunteer allowance of up to 3 hours per session at €5, 25 per hour.
  • A Water Safety Training (training in spring on a beach in the Netherlands)
  • Opportunities for personal development.
  • An inspiring low-threshold sporty working environment with motivated and highly skilled colleagues.
  • Travel allowance based on public transport fares within The Hague (but coming by bike is also allowed!).
  • Lots of love from the team.
