Every Wednesday, as a youth worker, I cook a 3-course menu for the elderly in the neighborhood with youth from the neighborhood. I cook from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The elderly are welcome from 4.30 pm. They often arrive at 4 pm (by taxi). They take a seat in the room where they have a nice chat. Most guests have been eating here for years and are loyal customers. For them it is often the weekly outing. At 5 pm we will eat together. Young and old. The youth serve the food to the elderly.

We take into account the corona rules so that it is safe for everyone to come and cook, help and eat.

We are looking for a hostess/hostess for this project. One of our hosts has retired.

The duties of the hostess/host are the following. You put the tables in the right place in the room together with the administrator, and you set the tables. When the older guests come, you collect the money for the meal and have a chat with the guests. You are extra eyes and ears in the room for me because I am cooking upstairs in the kitchen until 5 pm. If there are any specifics, I'd love to hear them. To be able to work with the elderly it is necessary that you speak basic Dutch!

Between courses, the host/hostess clears the plates and ensures that they are washed (we have a fast and good dishwasher). Afterwards, the hostess clears the tables completely and wipes them clean again. I am cleaning the kitchen with the youth.

Since 2011, the project has been a place for many young people to learn how to cook and learn many other practical and social skills. For some, even the stepping stone to their professional career. And for the elderly, we are a place to meet, meet new people and socialize. We are also a place where questions can be asked for help.

We guarantee a warm bath for you as a new volunteer. The atmosphere is good, cozy and we have an eye and ear for each other.
