Just Social: ‘Recovery with respect and maintaining personal control’
Just Social guides recovery, stabilisation or reintegration processes for people from Moerwijk-Oost with a mental health or addiction background. Initiator Wilco Bakker experienced first-hand what can happen to someone in such a process. ‘There is a separate box for each problem, with different care providers. That makes it very complicated for me to know what was good for me. It can be simpler and better.’ After 25 years of experience with care and issues such as addiction, withdrawal, homelessness and experiences with the law, Wilco knows what he is talking about. He wants to approach things differently. For him, the client and his or her life are central to all help and support. Just Social wants to guide someone in a personal way. Tailor-made, without unnecessary bureaucracy, labels or stigmas. The approach of Just Social focuses on organising daily life in a more positive way. By setting goals yourself and taking control of your own life, less desirable choices can disappear into the background.
