Summary

Biblionef Netherlands has been promoting children's reading skills worldwide for over 33 years. We are looking for a Communication Volunteer

Detailed description

Biblionef Netherlands is a foundation with the goal of giving children worldwide the opportunity to read, thereby promoting reading comprehension and reading for pleasure. For over 33 years, we have been achieving this by distributing and providing children's books for children aged 3 to 18. Together with our sister organizations in South Africa, Ghana, France, and other countries, we have distributed over 7 million books to date. Biblionef is largely a volunteer-based organization.

For our office in The Hague (remote work is possible), we are looking for a volunteer/intern.

About Biblionef Nederland

The aim of Biblionef is to enable all children, regardless of their personal circumstances, to discover at an early age how much pleasure and joy reading can bring, thus making them avid readers for the rest of their lives.

Biblionef works closely with schools that lack sufficient resources, and with local libraries that are either too far from a public library, or simply do not have enough resources to purchase new books.

We help educators and community libarians set up or improve their own libraries and organize reading sessions.

Our work means that we are constantly looking for new, exciting books that match the interests and reading needs of the children themselves.

For institutions or persons who want to call on Biblionef, the first step is to fill in a Biblionef Application Form, in which they make their wishes known.

Six months after the books have arrived on site, the teachers and the children are asked to provide feedback on the books they have received.

Since its foundation in 1991, Biblionef Netherlands has sent more than 1,000,000 brand new children's books in English, Dutch and other European and African languages to more than 1.6 million children worldwide.
