Summary

Become part of a student committee at Move and lead the Move your neighborhood project at an elementary school in The Hague!

Detailed description

The Move Foundation is committed to equal opportunities for children in the Netherlands. Move pairs students and young professionals with children, and together they carry out a project in a neighbourhood in The Hague.

During the Move your Neighbourhood project, you will work with a primary school class (age 9-12) in the Hague to work on talent development, discovering the neighborhood and inventing and implementing an fun activity for the neighborhood!

There will also be a real student outing, giving children a glimpse into your life as a student. Take them to a lecture hall, show them a student house, or take them to the sports club!

What does it all mean practically?

  • You will spend about 2 hours every 2-3 weeks in front of the classroom and run a class with your committee at the elementary school.

  • In the other weeks you will be busy with your own tasks as coordinator: each volunteer will have a coordinator role within the committee and, depending on that, you will be busy with, for example, making the lesson plan, finding sponsors for your activity, developing and implementing a communication plan, etc.

  • You will be trained and supervised by a project coordinator from Move. The PC can also support you in thinking about developing your own talents or skills, so you can further develop them within the project.

  • As a committee, you have an independent role within the project. You keep a close eye on the planning, attend appointments on time and actively support the children with organising the activity. You actively think about how you can make it as fun and educational as possible for the children (and yourself). During the project, you have a lot of freedom to come up with your own ideas, and you can always contact the project coordinator for questions or for support.

  • This position is a volunteer position for students or young professionals.

About Stichting Move

Move is committed to children and young people aged 10 to 16 who have fewer opportunities than their peers. In our continuous learning line of social projects, they discover their talents and the valuable position they can take in society.

In all our projects, encounters are central: children, young people and students discover other worlds together and broaden their perspective. Bubbles break and the distance between people decreases. Move connects and broadens perspectives!
