Summary

Become part of a student committee at Move and lead the Move your neighborhood project together at an elementary school in The Hague!

Detailed description

The Move Foundation is committed to equal opportunities for children in the Netherlands. Move pairs students with children, and together they carry out a project in the neighborhood where children go to school.

For this project, the Move your neighborhood project, we are still looking for 4 English or Dutch speaking students who have 2-4 hours a week for 3-6 months to volunteer. You will work with a primary school class (age 10-12) of a school in the Hague to work on talent development, discovering the neighborhood and inventing and implement an activity for the neighborhood!

There will also be a real student outing, giving children a glimpse into your life as a student. Take them to a lecture hall, show them a student house, or take them to the sports club!

What does it all mean practically?

  • You will spend about 2 hours every 2-3 weeks in front of the classroom and run a class with your committee at the elementary school.

  • In the other weeks you will be busy with your own tasks as coordinator: each student will have a coordinator role within the committee and depending on that you will be busy with, for example, making the lesson plan, finding sponsors for your activity, developing and implementing a communication plan, etc.

  • You will be trained and supervised by a project coordinator from Move. The PC can also support you in thinking about developing your own talents or skills, so you can further develop them within the project.

  • As a committee, you have an independent role within the project. You keep a close eye on the planning, attend appointments on time and actively support the children in thinking about the design of the activity. You actively think about how you can make it as fun and educational as possible for the children (and yourself). During the project, you have a lot of freedom to come up with your own ideas, and you can always contact the project coordinator for questions or for support.

  • This position is a volunteer position for students or young professionals. We focus specifically on this target group in order to effectively work together with children in as accessible a way as possible for the neighborhood and to broaden and enrich each other's worlds.

Do you like to help others and do you enjoy rolling up your sleeves together with children and carrying out an activity for a neighborhood in The Hague? Do you enjoy standing in front of the class and do you like to get to work? Then sign up to volunteer for a Move your neighborhood project!
